A nevus is an eye freckle, similar to the freckles you may have on your face or other parts of your body. Nevi are usually found on the surface of the retina, are typically benign, and require observation. Although the risk of cancer associated with a nevus is low, you should have annual dilated examinations for early detection of changes.
